Stalking victims and others in dangerous life situations who need emergency cellphones can now obtain them free from AWARE (limited quantities available).

Did you know:

• 1 out of every 12 women, and 1 out of every 45 men, will be stalked during their lifetime.



• A large number of stalking victims, often the most likely to be killed, come from backgrounds of domestic violence.



• 8% of stalkers kill their victims, attempt to kill them, or solicit someone else to kill them.

It is vitally important that stalking victims have access to cellphones to contact the police in an emergency!

The Verizon Wireless HopeLine Program refurbishes old wireless phones and donates them with free service to local groups. AWARE has recently been included in this program as the only New England organization that serves primarily stalking victims.

AWARE can help you understand what kind of stalker you have, recognize risks, avoid danger, learn survival tactics, reduce your change of being injured, develop your skills and participate more effectively in your own defense.

AWARE can offer risk assessment, threat management, highly individualized personal protection plans, training, and referrals.
